history

Klein Ranch is a fourth generation farm and ranch that has its roots back into the early 1930’s. Klein Ranch raises registered seed stock in Northwest Kansas. In 2004 Heath was given the opportunity to come back to the farm by his grandparents (Kendall and Dee Lores Klein) and parents (Doug and Jan Klein).Their farm is grain and commercial cattle operation. In 2005, Heath began Klein Ranch for his passion of the cattle industry and to create another dynamic to the family farm. Heath's wife Ami, teaches at Rawlins County High School and has an active part in the ranch. Heath and Ami, also have two great little ranch hands, Miles and Hudson.

Klein Ranch is located 5 miles west and 2 miles north of Atwood, Ks. Where the cattle graze primarily on the grasslands around the Beaver Creek as the terrain is very rough and hilly.  The cattle have to be very sound to travel and be able to the handle the extremes of Northwest Kansas.

Klein Ranch owns and operates a 100 head of registered black and red Simmental and Simangus cowherd. Klein Ranch is in conjunction with Klein Farm’s 330 head of commercial Simangus cowherd. Both groups are managed together as a commercial cowherd.  The steers and non-replacement females are developed on site to 800 lb range and sold as a feeder.  We have been marketing our cattle this way since 2006.  We emphasize our cattle to be moderate in frame with volume, thickness, longevity and easy fleshing ability. We are always striving to build a better cow herd with the commercial cattlemen and the end product in mind.

Klein Ranch has been marketing and raising registered bulls since 2010.  We will have our first Heart Of The Herd Sale on March 6th, 2019 in Atwood, KS selling our registered bulls and commercial females. We also sale our registered females at the Hofmann Simmental Burlap and Barbed Wire Sale as a partner.

If you have any questions about our operation or how our cattle can fit your needs please gives us a call or check out our contact page.  Visitors are always welcome to stop on by.
